<p>For most people, losing belly fat is a difficult and challenging, if not impossible, task. It does not have to be this way. Any weight you have gained can be lost fast if certain practices are observed. The basic rules are that you must follow are to change your dietary habits and living styles. Nothing affects the weight you gain and the size of your stomach more than the foods you eat. This problem compounds on itself if you do not exercise properly to burn the excess fat that resides under your belly.</p>
<p>If you really want to achieve the flat stomach you always wanted, you must be determined and dedicated. You must consistently follow all the advise I lay out below. If you do not totally avoid all foods that cause weight gain and do not engage in consistent exercise for the two week period ahead, you are not going to achieve your goal.</p>
<p>The following techniques are time tested and proven to show you <strong>how to flatten your stomach</strong>. If practiced consistently, you can lose a decent chunck of your belly fat within a period of two weeks. It will only be possible, though, if you are thorough and strict in only doing that which is allowed by these rules and avoiding entirely that which is prohibited by them.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>1. Avoid junk and processed foods</strong></p>
<p>One of the most effective ways to get a flat stomach fast is to avoid fast foods. I know these foods are delicious, but they have very little to no nutritional value. Surprisingly, the ways to get rid of your belly are very simple and straight forward. Drinking a lot of water is one of the most simple, but effective steps to take. Fresh fruits and vegetables are the most recommended. The fiber you will gain by eating more of these foods will also help reduce your food cravings that may sometimes tempt / force you to overeat. Almost all fruits and vegetables are high in fiber, so choose a few that you like and start eating more of them. You should eat them as often as you can without getting sick of them. These foods will also help your body to detoxify itself and get rid of the free radicals that can do damage to you.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>5. Eat smaller meals full of low-fat food</strong></p>
<p>Even if the foods you eat are low in fat, if you eat them in very high quantities, they may end up providing your body with excessive amounts of calories that can turn into fat. I advise you to eat very healthy meals that are smaller than usual. You should only eat the amount of food that is sufficient to prevent you from feeling unnecessarily hungry.</p>
<p>Another thing to consider is that one pound of fat equals 3,500 calories. Your body should only require around 2,000 calories per day. If you consume an excessive amount of calories and / or fat, it will give your body more than it needs. These excesses will be stored in fat around your organs, in the veins, and under your skin (including under your stomach). To get the nutrition you require without consuming excess calories, you should eat foods that are high<br />
in protein and low in fat.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>6. Exercise</strong></p>
<p>Even if you follow the dietary guidelines I outlined above, you will also need to engage in other practices aimed at getting rid of the excess fat in your body. The most effective way to get rid of the excess fat that dietary changes alone did not manage to get rid of is to engage in exercise. Although the exercises you choose to do should be targeted mostly at your stomach, you should also ensure that you train your entire body. Once you get rid of the fat from the other parts of your body, your stomach will also reduce in size.</p>
<p>Outdoor exercises, such as walking up and down stairs, running, jogging, walking, swimming, and playing sports, are recommended. You should make them a part of your daily schedule. I advise you to leave your car behind and walk anywhere you can get to on foot, including work if possible. You should also take some time and play in a park with family and / or friends each weekend. The strain your body will experience and the sweat it will produce will make your muscles stronger while getting rid of your excess fat.</p>

<p>There are some people who have tried for many years, without success, to get rid of their large stomach. This is surprising, because any person who has gained weight or has a big belly can lose it if certain practices are observed. Don&#8217;t try to look for miracles or other extra ordinary ways to get rid of the belly that has that is ruining your body shape and figure. If you avoid the things that caused it, your belly fat will gradually reduce until your stomach finally becomes flat.</p>
<p>To get the clear facts on getting a flat stomach, it is very important to learn what causes weight gain. Once you avoid the causes, you can very quickly get a flat belly. Belly fat is mainly caused by diets that are very high in fats and calories. If you eat a diet high in fats and high in calories, you will experience weight gain. You should note that 3,500 calories will add one pound of fat to your body.</p>
<p>The second main cause of a big belly and weight gain is the failure to exercise. Most of the foods that we eat every day, including drinks and beverages, contain many fats and other substances that lead to weight gain. Other diets may include some foods and drinks which slow down the body&#8217;s metabolic process, leading to the deposit of the excess fats into the belly and also in other body parts.</p>
<p><strong>THERE IS NO MIRACLE</strong> to <strong>quickly losing weight</strong>. It will happen when you change your dietary habits and living style. You need to manage that which you eat and engage in activities that encourage the body to burn more and more fat. These two actions need to be undertaken simultaneously. You need to reduce the intake of fats and engage in exercises. You will not attain your goal, for example, if you engage in exercises, but you do not reduce your fat intake.</p>
<p>If you want to get flat belly fast, you must work. You must resist all the temptations to engage in those actives that may lead to increased weight. You need to ensure that the loss of body fat is constantly happening all the time. You should set very strict rules and guidelines and ensure that you observe them properly. No one will force you to exercise or to punish you when you take the high carb, high calorie and high fat foods, but you must ensure that you do what is right without supervision or coercion.</p>
<h2>With these facts in mind, the following are some of the tips I found effective when attempting to get a flat stomach:</h2>

<li>Cut down on the consumption of fats</li>
</ul>
<p>If you eat foods that are very high in fats, your belly will never become flat. It will in fact continue to grow bigger and bigger. While our bodies need fats, the intake of them in excessive quantities can cause various other health problems such as heart attack, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. You are advised to stick with a diet that is low in fats and high in fiber. You should also eat a lot of fruits and vegetables because they aid in the body&#8217;s metabolism of fat.</p>
<p>Your diet plan must include a reduction in the intake of fats and carbohydrates. Proteins and dietary fibers are highly encouraged, but unhealthy junk foods, such as sugars, sodas, fried foods, steak, dairy products, candies, and desserts should be eaten in very small quantities and, where possible, they should be avoided entirely. In place these unhealthy foods, you should substitute seafood, low-fat dairy products, skim beef and fruits and vegetables. You are also advised to drink a lot of fresh and clean water. You should limit your daily fat intake to about one ounce of fat, which will give you about 200 calories from fat.</p>

<li>Exercise your whole body, not just your stomach</li>
</ul>
<p>In addition to the adherence to a low fat diet, you also need to engage in proper exercises if you want to get rid of your belay fat. Among the most recommended workouts are cardiovascular workouts. These workouts are aimed at improving the functioning of your heart and lowering your blood pressure. You should ensure that you undertake these workouts consistently if you want to achieve the desired results. Some recommended cardiovascular workouts include brisk walks, biking, running and swimming, amongst many other outdoor activities.</p>
<p>If you engage in the proper exercises, combined with the reduction in fat intake, you are definitely going to realize consistent weight loss that will lead to the reduction in the size of your belly. Even after your belly becomes flat, though, you will not have achieved your goal. You then need to exercise the stomach further, so as to toughen the muscles and make them more powerful. These exercises will also expel all the fats under your stomach muscles, thus making your abs even flatter.</p>
<p>You need to ensure that you engage in exercises such as walking up and down stairs or lifting weights that exercise all the muscles in your upper, mid and lower abdomen. You are advised to engage in these exercises for at least 20 to 30 minutes per day, and practice them 3 to 4 times every week. You must be dedicated and determined if you really want to achieve a flat belly. Your muscles will ache, but you still have to continue if you want to get rid of all those fat deposits under your belly.</p>
<h3>Final Thoughts On Getting A Flat Stomach Fast</h3>
<p>As you research and try to figure out <em>how to get great abs</em>, you need to note and keep in mind that planning and consistency are the keys to success. If you begin the reduction of your daily intake of fats, you need to do so consistently and without cheating at anytime. <p>Most people who are overweight would like to know <strong>how to get a flat stomach fast</strong>. A big stomach is not only unattractive, but it is also not good for your health. People with extended bellies are already suffering from, or they are at very high risk of suffering from, some serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity, among others.</p>
<p>Some people try to look for a magic way to get a flat stomach fast, but that is not necessary. Most rotund stomachs are caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, which includes the intake of certain bad foods and failure to exercise. Many of the people who have fat bellies are heavy drinkers. If you work on these factors which cause a fat stomach, you can once and for all overcome the condition.</p>
<p>The first thing that needs to be emphasized and checked on is your <span style="text-decoration: underline;">DIET</span>.</p>
<p>Although exercise plays a very important role in reducing your midsection to the desired size, it cannot work unless there is change in the intake of some foods. The first step that you should take if you want to get flat belly is to clean up your diet.</p>
<p>It is important that there is no general consensus on the precise and exact dosage that you need to take if you want to lose weight. The information on <em>quickly getting a flat stomach</em> contained in magazines, books and media sometimes differs. You may sometimes find that what is prohibited by one article is recommended by the other. The differences in the opinions may leave you confused on which foods you are supposed to eat and those which you need to avoid.</p>
<p>Although some people may recommend starving as a way of losing weight, the nutritionists and other health experts warn against the practice. Although it may work in the short term, starving may have some other adverse effects in the long term. The starving denies your body most of the essential vitamins and other nutrients that it needs to flourish.</p>
<p>According to the advice of most nutritionists, you should eat a diet that is highly nutritious and which is not filled with processed foods. This diet is recommended because it stimulates the vital metabolic and hormonal processes which lead to the burning off of the excess fats.</p>
<p>You are also advised to eat the raw foods where possible. If you have to prepare the food yourself, you need to ensure that you do not overcook it. Overcooking destroys most of the nutritious elements in the food and thus makes it unhealthy. The vegetables are especially very much affected by cooking. You should also ensure that you eat the whole grain products and cereals.</p>
<p>You are advised to avoid the intake of the foods that have very little to no nutritional value. Most of the packed and processed foods are junk foods since they provide your body with very little or no nutrients. To be on the safe side, you are advised to eat only those foods that you are aware of their nutritional value. The junk foods will just make you feel bad and provide your body with lots of fats and cholesterol that are not good for health.</p>
<p>Fruits and vegetables are very much recommended if you want to get flat belly within the shortest duration possible. The fruits are natural antioxidants. They also increase your body&#8217;s metabolism, leading to the burning of the excess fats that have been stored in the belly. The vegetables, especially the dark ones, are also rich in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. They are very important in helping you get flat stomach faster that you have ever imagined.</p>
<p>The second thing you need to know about getting a great stomach is the importance of <span style="text-decoration: underline;">EXERCISE</span>.</p>
<p>Change in dietary habits, though effective, may not solely help you get flat belly quickly. It is recommended that you engage in proper exercises, especially those which target the stomach region. The weight loss experts advise that while the exercises should mainly be centered on the stomach, they should also focus on the other parts of the body.</p>

Instead of focusing mainly on the small muscles such as triceps and biceps, you should work on the large muscle groups of your body such as the chest, back and legs.</p>

<p>Research has revealed that most of the people who want to get flat stomach fast do the wrong things as they attempt to get it. Most of the people focus mainly on the training of their abdomen while ignoring the other body parts. However, the process of getting a flat stomach should be mainly focused on getting down to a low percentage of body fats.</p>
<p>The workouts should be mainly aimed at the stimulating of the burning of fats as well as increasing the rate of body metabolism. The burning of body fats and increasing of body metabolism cannot be simply attained if you exercise only the muscles of your stomach.</p>

<p>The first two rules talked about both sides of the simple formula you need to memorize if you want to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">get a flat stomach</span>:</p>
<ul>
<li>calories in vs. calories out</li>
</ul>
<p>The <a title="first rule" href="http://howtogetaflatstomachfast.org/how-to-get-a-flat-stomach-fast-rule-1/">first rule</a> mentioned eating less and gave you some simple tips to follow to reduce your caloric intake. The <a title="second rule" href="http://howtogetaflatstomachfast.org/how-to-get-a-flat-stomach-fast-rule-2/">second rule</a> was to exercise more, and in that post I told you about a few little things you could do throughout a normal day to burn a few more calories.</p>
<p>The third rule is going to leave that formula behind, although you <em>will</em> burn more calories if you follow it. The third rule is not essential for getting a flat stomach (the first two rules will do that on their own), but it will make sure that when you do get rid of that layer of fat currently residing on top of your abs, there will be something special underneath.</p>
<h2>That&#8217;s right, the third rule to follow to get a flat stomach is:</h2>
<p><a href="http://howtogetaflatstomachfast.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/how_to_get_a_flat_stomach_fast_strengthen_your_abs.jpg"><img class="size-full" title="Strengthen Your Abs" src="http://howtogetaflatstomachfast.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/how_to_get_a_flat_stomach_fast_strengthen_your_abs.jpg" alt="Strengthen Your Abs" width="500" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>While you do currently have <a title="muscles" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle">muscles</a> hiding underneath your belly fat, they probably are not very big. This forces you to lose every ounce of fat above them before they will show through. Strengthening your abs is all about increasing the size of those muscles so they will show through even if you do have a thin layer of fat above them.</p>
<p>So, how do you go about strengthening your abs?</p>
<p>My first suggestion is to:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Do 1,000 situps per day!</strong></li>
</ol>
<p>Just kidding. <img src='http://howtogetaflatstomachfast.org/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Did you know there have been multiple scientific studies done in the last few years on working out and growing muscle mass? Did you know that many of these studies have come to one resounding conclusion that is going to revolutionize the way you think about working out?</p>
<p>These studies have concluded that working a muscle once, to exhaustion, is just as effective at building muscle as doing 3, 5, 10, or even 100 sets of exercises targeting that muscle!</p>
<p>What does this mean for you?</p>
<p>Well, it means you can save time and build muscle quickly by picking one ab exercise (or a few targeting different muscle groups) and doing it until you cannot do it any more!</p>
<p>Here is <span style="text-decoration: underline;">what I like to do</span>:</p>
<ol>
<li>I <span style="text-decoration: underline;">pick two exercises</span>. One targeting my lower abs and one targeting my upper and side abs (I describe <em>actual</em> the exercises I do below).</li>
<li>I <span style="text-decoration: underline;">start with a number I know I can do</span> of each. Maybe this is 5, 10, or 20 for you.</li>
<li>I <span style="text-decoration: underline;">do that number</span> of each, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">and then stop</span>. I am done working out for the day. I like to do them right before I take my shower. That way, I have a routine to follow every day and I get to wash off any sweat immediately. (It&#8217;s also nice to see yourself in the mirror right after working out because your ab muscles will be at their finest!)</li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The next day I increase the number I do by a set amount</span>. I increase it by 5, but you can increase it by however many you want.</li>
<li>I <span style="text-decoration: underline;">repeat this every day</span> until I reach the maximum number I am able to do of each exercise.</li>
<li>At this point, I just do as many as I can of each exercise, every day, knowing I am building as much muscle as possible in as little time as possible.</li>
</ol>
<p>Here are the exercises I do to keep my six pack in place:</p>
<ul>
<li><a title="Leg Lifts" href="http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/leg-lifts"><strong>Leg Lifts</strong></a> - These are great for the lower and middle ab muscles.</li>
</ul>
<ol>
<li>I lay on my back, with my hands under my butt to stabilize me.</li>
<li>I lift my shoulders off of the ground by only flexing my abs.</li>
<li>I lift my feet off of the ground shoulder width apart with my legs straight.</li>
<li>Now, I push my feet away from the ground using my ab muscles and then bring them back down close to the ground. You should feel a pull on your abs as your feet come close to the ground.</li>
<li>Then repeat until fatigued.</li>
</ol>

<li>Do these two exercises until fatigued, every day, and I promise you will have amazing ab muscles!</li>

<p>In the post for my <a title="first rule" href="http://howtogetaflatstomachfast.org/how-to-get-a-flat-stomach-fast-rule-1">first rule</a>, which was &#8220;eat less&#8221;, I mentioned that getting a flat stomach fast boils down to one simple formula:</p>
<ul>
<li>calories in vs. calories out</li>
</ul>
<p>Well, if the first rule was all about restricting the calories you take in, what do you think rule number two is going to be about? That&#8217;s right, increasing the number of calories going out.</p>
<h2>So, without further ado, rule #2 is:</h2>

<p>OK, OK&#8230; I know the first thing you think when you read the words <a title="exercise" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_exercise">exercise</a> more is:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I am not one of those people who is going to hang out at the gym all day to get my flat stomach. I have a job and responsibilities. I don&#8217;t have extra hours in the day to drive to the gym, work out, and drive home.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>The good news is, you don&#8217;t have to!</strong></p>
<p>You never have to step foot in a fitness center to get a flat stomach fast! By just modifying a few behaviors throughout the day in the exact life you live right now, you can eliminate that layer of fat covering up your perfect, flat stomach and six pack abs!</p>
<p>Here are a few suggestions:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>1) Stand More!</strong></p>
<ul>
<ul>
<li>Did you know that you can burn up to 50 more calories per hour by standing rather than sitting?</li>
<li>How many hours per day do you sit? Do you sit at a desk all day while you work your job? Do you sit on a couch all night at your house while you watch television?</li>
<li>The average person sits around 6 hours per day.</li>
<li>If you stand half of the time you normally sit, you can burn 150 extra calories per day. 1000 extra calories per week. Over 50,000 extra calories per year!</li>
<li>Using the formula I gave you in my post about the number one rule on <em>getting a flat stomach</em>, that means you can lose an extra 14 pounds per year just by standing some of the time instead of sitting.</li>
<li>Do you know what else is great? It is healthier, too. <a title="Study" href="http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2012/07/09/study-excessive-sitting-cuts-life-expectancy-by-two-years">Study</a> after study has shown that people who stand more and sit less have decreased risk of risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and an early death. I know this does not have anything to do with getting great abs, but it doesn&#8217;t hurt, either. Looking good is important, but being healthy is even better.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>2) Use the stairs!</strong></p>
<ul>
<ul>
<li>If you are like I used to be, I am guessing you use the elevator every time you go up or down more floor in a building. Depending on the situation, you probably even use the elevator for one flight. Well, that needs to change if you want to follow the rules.</li>
<li>Climbing up or down stairs burns about 12 calories per minute.</li>
<li>Let&#8217;s say you work on the 3rd floor of a building, but you take the elevator every day. If you switch your habits and take the stairs every time you are going to burn around 30 calories more per day, 150 calories more per week, and 7500 calories more per year! And you probably go up and down more than once per day!</li>
<li>That means if you switch to using the stairs every day, you are going to lose at least an extra 2-3 pounds per year! Those pounds go a long way toward getting a flat stomach fast!</li>
</ul>
</ul>

<li>This is a little thing that most people never think of. I know sometimes you are in a hurry and need to get in and out of a store as fast as possible, but I bet most the time you have enough time that parking a little further away will not cramp your style. I bet you still park as close as you can every time, though.</li>
<li>By parking in the last spot in the parking lot you can increase the distance you walk by up to 500 feet per trip. You burn 22 calories for every thousand feet you walk. I bet you run at least 4 errands per weekend. I know typically go to at least the grocery store, the pharmacy, and the bank every weekend.</li>
<li>If you park in the last spot every time you run an errand, you can burn around 50 extra calories per weekend. That adds up to another 2600 calories per year!</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<p>So, just by making a few small changes, without going to a gym everyday or even really breaking a sweat, you can burn up to 60,000 extra calories per year, which can mean more than 17 less pounds of fat covering up your flat abs.</p>
<h3>Now that is how to get a flat stomach fast!</h3>

<p>It really is that simple. Years of scientific research has taught us that losing weight and fat (especially that layer of stomach fat covering up your fabulous abs) comes down to one thing:</p>

<li>calories in vs. calories out.</li>
</ul>
<p>You need less of the first and more of the second if you are going to get rid of that layer of fat covering your abs. The calories get in through food intake and you force the calories out through exercise (and bathroom activities).</p>
<p>So, the first rule really is&#8230;</p>

<li>TAKE IN LESS CALORIES!</li>
</ul>
<p>Here are a few tips on how you can take in less calories throughout the day while feeling good and not starving yourself:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>1) Don&#8217;t eat big meals!</strong></p>
<ul>
<ul>
<li>It is better to eat more, smaller meals than to starve yourself and binge on one or two huge meals per day. It will make you feel better, too.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>2) Snack more, but snack healthy!</strong></p>
<ul>
<ul>
<li>No potato chips. No cookies.</li>
<li>Your snacks should consist of fresh <a title="fruits and vegetables" href="http://www.cdc.gov/nutrition/everyone/fruitsvegetables/index.html">fruits and vegetables</a>.</li>
<li>An entire apple has 53 calories. A whole orange has 45 calories.</li>
<li>10 potato chips have more than 100 calories.</li>
<li>Which do you think you need to eat more often to get a flat stomach fast?</li>
</ul>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>5) No Soda (or any other liquid but water)!</strong></p>

<li>No one said this was going to be easy. Liquid calories are some of the sneakiest calories around.</li>
<li>Did you know that one can of soda has 90 calories?</li>
<li>Did you know that a latte has 136 calories?</li>
<li>You can eat 4 whole apples and oranges and consume less calories than one can of soda and one latte. Which do you think is going to make you feel more full and get you a flat stomach faster?</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<p>So, now the question is:</p>
<p>How much progress are you going to make toward getting a flat stomach just by following this simple rule?</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s image you currently consume <a title="2000 calories per day" href="http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2011/08/why-does-the-fda-recommend-2-000-calories-per-day/243092/">2000 calories per day</a> (the average for an adult American male) while drinking one soda and eating one snack that is the equivalent of 10 potato chips. You can instantly save around 150 calories per day by simply switching to water and trading those chips for a piece of fruit.</p>
<p>Now you are thinking, &#8220;yeah, but how much difference does 150 calories make&#8221;, right?</p>
<p>Well, 1 pound of fat is the equivalent of 3500 calories. That means that&#8230; let&#8217;s see&#8230; 3500 divided by 150&#8230; carry the 5&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>By making these two simple changes to your diet (not to mention the other recommendations above), you can lose 1 pound every 23 days! That is over 15 pounds per year!</strong></p>
<p>It does not take too many of those pounds coming from that layer of fat currently hiding your flat stomach to make a drastic improvement!</p>
<h3>That is <span style="text-decoration: underline;">how to get a flat stomach fast</span>!</h3>
<p>In summary, drink only water, snack on only fruits and vegetables, and eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day and you will be well on your way to getting a flat stomach fast!</p>
